Universal Health Coverage and Hospital Accreditation Program Realization Program, BANGKOK, THAILAND 25th-29th November 2013

During on 25-29 November 2013, Capacity Building Program on UHC (CAP UHC) and the Hospital Accreditation Institute (HAI) jointly held a workshop on “Universal Health Coverage and Hospital Accreditation Program Realization” at Narai hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop had objectives to share experiences of UHC and UC Scheme in Thailand; to exchange experience of other countries on their movement towards UHC; to gain in-depth understanding the concept of quality and accreditation and process of how to develop accreditation and planning; to identify and share successful innovations in the accreditation process among participants’ countries and to engage participants on HA support for improving the quality of services under the UHC movement. The workshop was a combination of academic presentation and lively brainstorming workshop including study tour at Siriraj hospital to make participant understand in concept, tools and methods of UHC and HA.

The workshop received very good attention from academic people, researchers, lecturers, and government officers, with the total of 30 participants from 7 countries (Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand). Participants felt very satisfied with the workshop management as well as knowledge given by all lecturers that they could carry it to develop public health system in their country. In addition, a lively network among participants and resource persons has been automatically created and maintained using many means e.g. the facebook at http://www.facebook.com/CAPUHC.HATHAILAND. Almost all participants suggested to have further training courses on HA and other topics related to UHC.
